What does a copywriter do?
A good copywriter will be able to understand your business, identify your audience, and communicate with that audience in a way that is engaging and informative. It sounds simple, but it takes a lot of hard work. A copywriter can help elevate your business above your competitors and help you stand out stand out from the crowd.
Why shouldn’t I just do it myself?
Writing isn’t always easy, it’s not just a case of putting one word after another and hoping for the best. You could do it yourself, but it wouldn’t be as good as if you’d got a copywriter to do it for you. And it will also save you a lot of time. Even the simplest piece of work requires research, writing, rewriting, and perfecting (not to mention checking the spelling and grammar), and you could be using that time elsewhere in your business.
How long does it take to complete a project?
That all depends on the nature of the project, how much information you can provide, and how many other projects I’m working on. Some smaller projects can be turned around in 24-48 hours. Larger projects will take longer. I’ll always agree a deadline with you in the initial briefing and keep you updated on progress.
How much will it cost me?
Again, that depends on the project, how much work there is to do and how long it will take to get it done. I'll generally charge per project, rather than per word or per hour. Once I have all the information I need from you, I'll be able to provide you with a competitive quote for the project.
What information will you need?
As much as possible. The more I know about your business, what your objectives are, and who your audience is, the better the finished project will be. Before I start, I’ll also ask you to complete an in-depth brief so I can find out more about your needs and what you’re looking to achieve.
Who owns the copyright?
You will own 100% of the copyright once a project is finished and payment has been received. You can use the copy for any purpose you like and as many times as you like.
Do you have a particular writing style?
In a word, no. Personally, I have a preferred way of writing and certain audiences I find it more enjoyable to write for, but my style will always depend on the project I’m working on. I will always adapt to suit you and your objectives.
Do I need a deposit?
If we’ve worked together before, I won’t ask you to provide a deposit, unless it’s for an especially large project. If we’re working together for the first time, I will ask for 50% up front with the remainder paid on completion.
